Quiet accommodation at Edinburgh?

Edinburgh gives you a preference if you want quiet accommodation so you can be put with like-minded students... Well I don't want regular parties in our flat and being too loud but then I also want to be sociable and have friendly flatmates that want to talk too. I don't want to be drinking every other day but a drink once in a while would be nice. I've heard mixed opinions on quiet accom- either it's normal people but it's not party flats (which sounds great) or its international students that sit in their room and never speak. I just want to be with some nice fun people in first year but I also value some quiet time, so idk what to pick. (I have the choice of non alcohol and quiet) Any advice?
Hi!

I'm in the same position as you - I don't want a crazy extremely loud flat but I also don't mind the odd drink and party here and there. But I think I would put quiet and non-alcoholic because I know that I can always join a party somewhere else and I need to prioritise my rest lol.

Also, has anyone lived in quiet/ non quiet accom in Edinburgh or have any friends in them? How are you/ they finding it?
I have applied for quiet and I am not international! I think its just to be with people who don't go out partying every night, and freshers might be a lot easier.
Is it non alcohol OR quiet or can you pick both?

Its separate criteria, so you can pick either on its own, or pick both of them as an option

Thank you. I haven’t firmed yet but have an unconditional offer for comp sci. I want to be sociable and have the odd drink but not anything wild or frequent so I don’t know which to pick.
I want the same sort of thing. I ended up doing quiet cos you can go out and socialise with others from your department and others you have met and I didn't want to risk the going out every night. I don't know if that helps 😂

Is it just for self-catered accommodation that you get a choice of quiet / non-alcohol etc or is that an option for Pollock Halls too?
