I’ve got LJMU as my insurance choice. If I take up the place on results day, will I still be guaranteed accommodation as a first year?

It would seem so. See this page on their web site which says: "LJMU guarantees a bedroom in high quality accommodation to all new students, regardless of what course they are doing or when they apply."

Hopefully you'll get the results so you won't need it... but I have a room that I no longer need in Student Accommodation but have to find a tenant to replace me. I'm giving a discount on it, so it will be great value (cheaper than the Uni offering I would expect) for 42 weeks. Let me know if you are interested after you get results.
