Do I have student status between finishing master's and starting PhD?

I am graduating from my master's in july, and starting a phd at a different university in october. For the purposes of council tax, am I a "student" during the summer? I assume not but I just want to check.

Proof of student status for council tax is normally a letter from the university registry stating you are enrolled. Neither the old or new institution will give you that over the summer, so no.

Makes sense, thanks for your help!

Most exemptions last a year. If you were a student at the start of the year, I see no reason why your council tax exemption would lapse before your PhD.
