Year in industry

I was speaking with friends and they told me that I'd need a 60% in first year to get accepted for a year long placement for my degree in most cases. Is this true? Just to clarify, this is for economics and not engineering, not sure why it appeared

Every university is different, but requiring a 2.1 typically 60% is pretty normal (and often a requirement by companies to begin with). You also will need to secure a placement job (which is typically the harder part of getting a year in industry).
