i talked about postmodernist views and hybrid subcultures like rastafariasm. I also talked about thornton and clubbers and ravers where there’s no one size identity to be a part of the subculture

that sounds good, but wdym by size culture?

so for example skinheads have the white young wc identity, hippies have middle class identity but clubbers and ravers don’t have a singular identity so membership is for all x

I’m so glad as i predicted that disability and postmodernism will come up but overall that paper was great

yeah I though overall the paper was actually pretty good - The 24 was a bit weird but it was alright in the end

the 16m lowkey threw me off but I wrote about pluralism supply+demand and postmodernism diversity+choice. As an counter, I put the media is still racist elizabeth poole

for the 24m on Youth subculture. I talked about how skinheads are a hybrid because as part of the culture they listened to Jamaican music. Also the question asked how subcultures are NOW hybrid. Does that mean mean that you have to use contemporary examples of subcultures

I wrote about malone and glocalised culture , Luke and hybridised world kids aswell as Back - Brasian hybrid subculture . Then to counter it I wrote that I put rastas were based on ethnicity and resisting hybridity backed up by Cashmore and Troyna and then McRobbie and garber based in gender ect then I wrote about hall and Jefferson teddy boys based on social class instead of hybridity

oh thats pretty similar to what i did acc

i did johal/ brah on brasian// and then postmodernists like neo tribes its not based on traditional social lines e.g ethnicity// and then I said modern primatives and linked to vale and juno. and then for ao3 i talked abt skinsheads// jacobson on seeking support from comminuty (but idk if this is too unrelated to subculture) and then I talked about mirza and how people form ethnic subculutres based on recaism bla

exactly the same, didnt really prepare for the 24 marker but still got it done to a good level I think, was easy enough to use different sociologists. Think it went well overall

sources A question was on religion and identity (6)
Source B question was on how the work place socialises individuals (8)
outline and briefly evaluate the view that ethnic identities are now hybrid (12)

Did paper today, my college did media so i can’t remember the youth subcultures or family questions but here’s what the other questions were.

Socialisation culture & identity
section A

- explain with examples global culture [6 marks]

- using source A [ article on chief executive giving detentions to children for rolling eyes at teachers ] and source B [kid receiving award for good behaviour ] explain how education is a form of social control. [12 marks]

- disability as a negative identity. [20 marks]

Media
section B

- outline what a two step flow model is. [12 marks]

- explain how people can do what they want with the media. [16 marks]

- media representations of ethnicities are increasingly positive. [24 marks]
