Changing degrees?

Hi, I am end of the first year of uni and was considering changing degrees as I'm having doubts with the one I'm in right now. I am currently on a plan 2 loan so if I were to change unis and do a different degree. Would I have to do a plan 5 or would I continue on plan 2?

Hi there, would you be withdrawing from your current course or transferring as a returning student to your new course? Thanks, Karen

This will depend on whether you withdraw or if you suspend from your course. As if you withdraw then you'll be treated as a new student come September 2023. I've enclosed some further information that explains this:

Hi there,

In this case it's likely you'll be on the new plan because you'll be starting a new course after a break in your studies. So, you'd be classed as a new student when your new course begins.

Thanks, Graeme

I see. So if I were to apply through UCAS for a different course or go through clearing to start in September 2023. Will I still be on plan 2 or plan 5?

If you are starting a new course in September 2023 then you'd be on the new plan.

Okay thank you! What if I were to switch to another course in the same uni? I would have to start from year 1 again. Would i still be on plan 2?

Hi there,

So long as you don't withdraw, complete the year, and *then* start the new course then you'll remain on plan 2.

Thanks, Graeme
