How is an equal to 3 why not it’s 1?

you need to get it in the form y(1+x)^1/2
to get y you would take out 9^1/2 so y would be 3
therefore when you do the binomial expansion you multiply final answers by 3. so a is 3 not 1

You are expaning (9 + 2x)^1/2 not (1 + 2x)^1/2
