What happens to unfinished exam essays?

I finished my history A-level exam, but could only complete 1 out of 2 essays; each were 30 marks, and I completed the content/source analysis question. I'm now incredibly concerned about the possibility of receiving no marks, or actively minus marks (if that's possible?) for not completing a question.

**Although** I did make an in-depth essay plan for the second question, with supporting facts, dates and historians (and arguments for each aspect), I just lacked the time to put the words together. Am I completely screwed on this?

you won’t have marks taken *away* for not answering a question, they just won’t be awarded, i don’t think you’d get many marks for the plan because you didn’t put it all together as an answer, but you may pick some up
