Free days out on a hot day in London!

As the days are getting hotter and hotter here are some activities to do in London when the weather is so nice! Free activities are the best for students that are trying to save money. London is only a short train journey from Surbiton to Kingston and only costing under £6 each way.

London has lots and lots of parks that are perfect for a picnic, a chat with friends while sunbathing and to finish off with an ice cream! Hyde park, Regent’s Park and Greenwich park are perfect for this. Pick up some picnic snacks from a Sainsbury’s or Tesco near by! Some food ideal for this are berries, sausage rolls, grapes, cocktail sausages, deli meat and some olives. Pair the food with some soft drinks or some cocktails in a can!

Museums are also another perfect activity to do in hot weather when you want to escape from it and stay in the cool shade! The British Museum, Natural History Museum, Science Museum and Victoria and Albert Museum are just a few examples of those offering free admission. Each museum can take hours to fully appreciate, explore and beat the heat! For those that love art, a visit to Tate Modern is a must. This contemporary art museum is completely free of charge and is another activity to escape the sun!

A classic British touristic day out in London would consist of the Changing of the Guards ceremony. Even though you might live only a few miles away from London, I can guarantee you wouldn’t have seen this and what’s better than to experience something new in the warm summer weather. After this you could take the train to Camden market to browse the shops and many varieties of food stalls. Maybe even stop off at a pub for a refreshing drink in the heat while soaking in that summer atmosphere! If you don’t want to be in the sun then don’t worry, there are lots of shaded areas too.

I hope you all have fun soaking in this summer sun!! Fingers crossed it stays hot for a few months at least!

Please share more activities to do in London in the replies!
