What does it mean when you eat more calories than you burn?

Like what does "burning" even mean here? Is this talking about metabolic rate? Is this talking about pooing?
Using the calories for energy and cell food. If you eat more than your burn you gain weight.

Moving in general burns calories. The more intense the movement the more calories you burn to sustain the muscles required for said activity.

"Burning" calories just means "using" calories. You even burn calories whilst asleep (for breathing and other similar functions).
