Film masters

What are the best masters programs for film? Do any offer old-fashioned physical film? Is a film degree necessary for the industry?

Actual film is v v expensive so there won't be many places using it. I know the National Film and Television School does, not sure of any others. And, of course, it's only used by people specialising in cinematography, as all editing these days is digital whatever the acquisition medium.
Hi @i_am_the_saurus

The film industry is quite diverse and the careers vary greatly in scope and include roles like camera operator, director, production manager and location manager. These are just a few to name. If you're wanting to complete a Master's in Film, it's good to have a look at what career routes require it or whether you really need it if you've already completed your undergraduate study. It can be good to have your Masters; in saying that, alot of the time the creative industry look at your skills and experience. I would advise you to look at postgraduate courses in the Film industry that would give you as much experience in professional practice, that way you're getting real-life industry experience before even graduating (if that is the route you want to take).

Both experience and theory-based knowledge is essential for succeeding in the creative industry, you just have to weigh up which route is best for you and will provide the desired outcome in what you're trying to achieve.

I hope that helps a little!
