Oxford written work

I was planning to study spanish and linguistics at Oxford. What should my written work be about? Would it affect my chances of getting in?
Should I write separate essays for spanish and linguistics, and could I write my linguistics essay discussing also technology or should it be mostly linguistics? We haven't had to write any essays for class yet so what should I do?
Thanks in advance ; )

There is specific guidance issued by Oxford on what written work you should submit; see here: https://www.ox.ac.uk/admissions/undergraduate/courses/course-listing/modern-languages under the "admissions requirements" tab, section "written work".

You need to submit one piece in your target language and one in English. Your English piece can be from any of your subjects and they specifically note the topic covered in the piece of work is unimportant as they are looking at your ability to construct an academic essay.

There is further general information here: https://www.ox.ac.uk/admissions/undergraduate/applying-to-oxford/guide/written-work

Plus more specific information for MML applicants here: https://www.mod-langs.ox.ac.uk/faqs#faq-12 item numbered "2."

I believe in general the expectation is that the written work will be drawn from assignments and coursework you complete during the usual process of your A-levels rather than something specifically written for the occasion, as I understand the latter is normally only accepted for e.g. mature students who have been out of education for some time and have nothing suitable that is recent. If you have nothing suitable completed to date and will not have anything in time for the admissions deadline you may be best off getting in touch with them to discuss what to submit.
