Can I retake a Higher exam without doing the course again?

I’m absolutely done for. I was going to study English at university but I got a C in it at higher. My academic parents wanted me to do my three advanced highers but I can’t because the only option is taking English again.

As well as this, my other subjects I got 3 B’s in and one C. It’s so mediocre compared to other people I don’t even think I’ll get into university. Is there anyone that has gotten into university with grades like mine? With no A’s or anything. Starting to panic not gonna lie.
