Students at the University of Manchester, is it really as bad as some people say?

Hello,I’m an a-level student who’s going into university next year. I’m doing English Literature and I’m really excited about it. I’ve wanted to go to university my whole life and since I was about 11 I’ve considered Manchester to be my ideal university, but all of the recent media has been overwhelmingly negative and it’s putting seeds of doubt in my mind. I don’t live in Manchester so I would be fully moving, and I’m autistic so I don’t want to move into a bad situation and stress myself out. I am fully indifferent to night life etc as I am not likely to be partaking in any of that stuff, it’s mostly about the course and accommodation. Anybody got any thoughts or advice? Is it as bad as people are saying? Should I go with my 2nd choice? Thank you. (If this is in the wrong forum I will change it, I’ve never posted on here before so I don’t really know the rules)
