Personally imo, try clearing first, then think about a gap year/resits.

Depends on subject, check the Uni website you are thinking of applying to.
From chatting to a couple of the other UCAS Advisors here at TSR, they are pretty sure with a course such as CompSci it should be fine if you choose to resit.
It is your choice of course though so make sure to consider all angles
