Why pharmacy or biomedical science as the back up?

Every year we see posts on whether to have pharmacy or biomedical sciences as a backup or an alternative to medicine. I’m genuinely curious why people always seem to mention these but very rarely anything else. There are such a variety of alternatives out there, especially if you’ve already had a couple of gos at medicine and it’s not worked out.

Anyone have any thoughts on why these two are the most popular?

From my experience, it's generally because they think they would be preferred subjects to get into graduate entry level medicine. This is far from what effectively work, but hey. If they want to get into medicine, they're better off reapplying at undergrad that going for the graduate level entry.
