Cancelling Or Changing Maintenance Loan

I applied to university last minute which resulted in me completing my student finance very late ( just yesterday), when i completed and submitted my application, I applied for the standard max maintenance loan , the one thats about 3.6k - however after discussing with my parents further I decided it would have been best for me to apply for the higher household maintenance loan, the one thats around 8k, how do i change this, or should i just cancel my application and make a new one, due to my application not being processed yet anyways ?

Hi there,

You don't need to cancel your application. You can upload the following 2 forms to your account:

This form completed by you: https://media.slc.co.uk/sfe/2324/ft/sfe_nmt_to_mt_form_2324_o.pdf and then this form completed by your parents: https://media.slc.co.uk/sfe/2324/ft/sfe_pff2_form_2324_o.pdf this then takes 29 working days as an estimated timescale to process and reassess your application. If you are paid the lower amount before the form is completed then once the form is processed you'd be backdated any monies owed to you 3-5 working days after its updated. Thanks, Jason

Hi thank you for the reply. I got approved for the lower max maintenance loan, to upload the evidence where would I upload it? Or would it be better to post it and send it directly to the student finance office in darlington, thats what it says on the forms. And by backdated what does this mean, Do I have to send back the money i received from the lower maintenance amount or would they automatically withdraw the money and transfer the new higher amount.
Thank you.

Hi there,

You can upload this to your account. You can upload evidence and forms by going to the 'Manage your student finance' section in the sidebar on the right of your screen. You will then see a link to 'Upload supporting evidence' and can use this to send us your evidence/form. It means any monies owed to you would be paid 3-5 working days after the form is completed. Thanks, Jason
