Applying for both Law and IR in UCAS application

Hi, I am currently a gap year student and have achieved A-Level results. I am currently applying for law at the London universities. Whilst this is my main priority I would like a backup and instead of applying for law at other unis I was planning on applying for a different course at the same universities. It would be international relations, however I want to increase all my chances for law so my personal statement wouldn't have anything related to international relations and is solely law focussed. Is it still worth applying for both in the same application, I understand its a risk and gamble but I am very interested in attending a top uni.
Ask the university concerned whether applying for IR with a law application would be acceptable.

And ask them if you can send a separate PS for IR directly to the University.
