Its an unsual statement, one - you don't really date your friends as to not ruin the friendship. In actual fact you never really have "lots" of friends, more likely it will be acquaintances.

More importantly, it seems you may have feelings for someone who may not be able to take it any further, ie due to differences in religious beliefs, so youl be friend zoned like the "rest" of the male friends.
