student council application essay

I'm in Year 12 and plan to apply for student council at my school. As part of the application I need to write a short essay on why I want to join, what I would offer, etc.
I'm not very good at talking about myself so I have no clue where to begin or how to make it sound good. I was hoping for some tips on how to start this or any good phrases to use as I'm stuck.

I think the hardest part is always starting off, so maybe starting in the middle and talk about your experiences and open it just be blunt and say you’re clear passion and motivation. For example I’d love to be on the student council because I believe that I’ve shown leadership in XYZ and demonstrated skills throughout my school years in XYZ and communication.hope this helps a bit and good luck
