Legal Career: Questions from a Y13 Student

Hi all,

I am currently an international student in Year 13 doing IB. I applied to Edinburgh (offer), UCL, LSE, and KCL (and I was rejected from Oxford pre-interview) with a predicted grade of 45/45.

My extracurriculars involve leadership for the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion council, Student Council, Cross-Country team, and an LGBTQ+ affinity group. However, I worry if I may not be doing anything explicitly "law-related", particularly given my Higher-Level subjects are English Language and Literature, Economics, and Biology.

1) I wonder if there is anything I could be doing starting now as I wait for university decisions to get a boost in my legal career, such as participating in essay competitions, doing online courses, visiting court trials, debating, and more.

2) Are there any "hobbies" I could take up in my everyday life to develop skills to be a successful lawyer in the future?

Any insights would be appreciated. Thanks so much, and I hope you all have a lovely day.

Sincerely,
mercury
