Once I’ve completed my nursing course what happens then I’ve been told it goes to a board before I can get a job

Following the final exam board your details are sent to the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) along with a statement of good health and character from your course lead, the NMC then contact you to offer you to join the register. You have to pay for your registration, it’s currently £120 a year. Most student nurses have already secured jobs prior to this happening, usually at some point in their final year. Their employer will either wait for them to be on the register before starting their first post, or employ them in a non registered role (band 3 or 4 usually), with uplift to b5 once on the register.

Thankyou that’s really helpful to know, I wasn’t sure if there was something I needed to do, so will be just a case of waiting then

Are you a student in your final year? Your university should have gone through this process with you.
