Edinburgh Accommodation

I'm going to Edinburgh Uni in the autumn, and I'm having trouble picking my accommodation. I've been told that Pollock Halls are probably the best since they are the most social, but I also heard that there's a lot of stigma, and people automatically think you're a Londoner, rich international kid or just a rich kid in general??

I'm also looking at Deaconess since it's very close to campus and seems like a very nice choice. Any thoughts?

I don't really care about catering (self-catered or catered) but would strongly prefer my own ensuite.

Also wouldn't really wanna stay in private accommodation just because I want the social aspect and to connect with students from the same uni.

if you search up an Edinburgh 2024 applications or offers thread here on TSR you will have a better chance of getting information 😊

the thread I know of is Edinburgh A100 which should then generate other Edinburgh threads in your sidebar

yep, pollock has stigma abt it, but i'm sure it's not too bad, and I think it might suit you. Idk how many of them are en-suite. I imagine budget isn't too much of a worry? In which case, Salisbury is close to campus and has its own en-suite. according to my research, a lot of rooms do share a kitchen so it might get crowded? probably good socially though. I don't know much abt deaconness.

Blackfriars is cheap and en-suite, and right on Cowgate (i think it's also right above a pub), so close to everything, good for partying, but loud bc of the pubs.

keep in mind most of your socialising happens in societies, so it's not that big of a deal.
