Tata says it has been forced to take drastic action because of the scale of its losses at Port Talbot, where the Indian-owned company says it is losing £1m a day.
Yeah... this is why you don't sell such important things to foreign companies with 0 interest or accoutability to the workforce and country.
It's a difficult one, because there will need to be changes to the steel industry to make it greener, but equally if the alternative is more imported steel from China then it's a big geopolitical issue.
