Switch to a level economics?

I’m currently in year 12 and I wanted to switch one of my subjects to a level economics. Hypothetically if my school was going to allow me to switch at this point of the year, do you think I should do it and how long do you think it would take me to catch up. Also, how much work would it take to achieve an A* at the end of year 13 bc I am a lazy but smart student.
Thank you

i'd say that would be rough and i doubt you would be able to get an A* in that timeframe even if you were dedicated to studying. i'd recomment potentially doing an AS which can be completed in one year. If you fail or do badly after you switch to economics you will have to declare it on all future applications to uni and to some jobs etc. (i know this because i failed AS maths and had to declare it when applying to university.)
