A-level retakes

Honestly how bad does it look if I retake my a-levels?
Like I dont know how I would word my reasons and feel they wouldnt be valid enough to be accepted anyways.....
I havent did them yet but dont have high hopes and I know there is no way I want to go on to a degree without having improved them...
Any advise would be welcomed.
