I think thats slightly over the top

I do get where you're coming from though, it goes on alot in adverts, music videos or lyrics, but the thing is alot of young girls these days dont care infact they go along with it.
Perhaps thats what angers you even more???

Well, as you might gather from my signature! ...It doesn't make sense for women to be discriminated against because of their number, but they are because no one speaks out.

This ad is hilarious! I think it's ironically sexist in that it's making fun of the stewardess/pilot stereotypes. It's a clever advert. I think "I might have to change my ticket".

And there you have it on the point of advertising - sell your product as a pathway to achieving a stereotypical fantasy (when of course it won't). Sadly both advertising and the corporate boardroom are dominated by white male graduates- that's why you get **** adverts all round - lack of diversity.

Tell- me- about it ...

Adverts balance power with no responsibility.

Ross ironic sexism is a huge form of cowardice

What about the gum disease mouthwash advert with a naked woman in a field?

If you don't buy this mouthwash you won't be able to run naked through hayfields? .. Bull :/

I'll agree with you on that particular advert, they're trying too hard to sell that mouthwash..but not on this one. In my opinion, there's nothing wrong with this advert.
How is it not sexist? Anything which objectifies/stereotypes either gender is sexist. This advert does both. Anyone who thinks that feminism is 'reactionary' in modern society is severely misguided - the role of women needs considering more than ever.

Except it's the portrayal of women that bothers me, it's an extension of porn degrading women. Everything in our culture is based around the disempowerment of women, hence why this advert isn't even a silly joke and ridiculous satire as to what was; so much as a piss take as to what is.

Beautiful women being admired, and men literally stopping in their tracks to look at well dressed, empowered working women. I must say that is so degrading. Dont you just hate it when people admire you!!! its disgusting.

Sexist attitudes in the work place i would totally understand your views.....but in the case of this advert? yes i agree its sexist but at the sametime people realise that its clearly not the intention the advert was going for.

The intention was to suggest that virgin is a sexy and glamorous airline, i like that you speak out but i dont think you should let this one advert get to you so much

And I still fail to see how what is basically 60 seconds of women showing power over men is sexist against women.

Women should not be empowered by the standards of men (i.e. sexual attraction). They should be empowered by virtue of being people, who deserve respect as much as anyone else. If men are not empowered by their attractiveness, why should women be?

You should make this comment on the f- word's blog about it.

Too many women mistake empowerment for lippie, high heels. This darn word is added to everything when it's clear it's exactly about how male culture will allow us to be 'empowered'
*sigh* I really like the advert. Its clever and is kinda funny in a way. Why people get so het up over these things i don't know. Its a couple of minutes long and makes fun out of stereotypes of airhostess/pilots. If it bothers you flick over the channel when it comes on, don't go searching for it on you tube.

I got put on 'ignore' earlier. Damn us women (and men!) who dare to disagree with her! :p: Apparently she'd been meaning to do it for a while!

I actually quite like the ad, better than some of the drivel that's about these days!

I think chaseside's point is, why do some people have to imply that women can only be empowered when there dressed in very sexy or revealing clothing that us men  at
