aaa your the first i know!!! :woo: :woo: so exicted, where are you staying? when are you moving in? any idea how many ppl will be on our course?? a should PM you really.

You're the first I know too  I live 45 minutes from Glasgow so I'm just gonna stay at home & travel in, really wanted to stay in halls though, you? Don't think there will be that many, only 25 places on the course and I'm not sure if they're all filled. Did you get the email from Brendan last week? Can't wait till next Monday, I'll get lost though haha! I've no idea how to work this, how do I pm?
Back at uni now. Looking forward to meeting all the newbies as soon as possible.
Hello, I am very interested in applying to study next September at the UVM in Kosice. I already visited this last summer and really liked it. I have still a year of school left, doing my A levels. I did maths as well as biology and chemistry. However I didn't do as well as I hoped and will repeat both biology and chemistry exams in November for AS while continuing with my A level. I decided to stop taking maths and focus on biology and chemistry as this is what matters most. I wanted to ask if there's a chance I could see a past entrance examination paper to get an idea of the questions. Will there be a problem if i've repeated my AS levels or does it not really matter?

Thank you very much for any help.

Hi no, none of that will be a problem as long as you can pass the entrance exam. PM me your email address and i'll send you the sample questions i have. From what i've heard from everyone its not too hard though x

Don't worry about the entrance exams you 'll pass them. They are not that hard. I really don't remember many of the questions bit in biology there are multiple questions and they are very easy as long as you study a bit.

I truly recommend you to study though, even if the exams are too easy because if you don't then it will be really hard to follow the course when you get in...

Start studying about oxidation numbers, acids and bases, ph, buffers, w/w and w/v, atomic orbitals and some basic knowledge from organic chemistry. Probably although i am not so sure there is going to be a question for cis-trans.

You have plenty of time to study and there is no reason to feel anxious about them.

I truly recommend you to buy AS/A calculation Chemistry book by Jim Clark which it is going to be really useful for the course. It is one of the best books i have ever read for chemistry and it is very understandable.

Two other books that they are really useful for the entrance exams and for the first semester as well are advanced biology and advanced chemistry.

Thank you so much for you help. Luckily for me I already have the calculations book you recommended, so that's good . I also will probably be studying from the CIE chemistry and biology books as those are the ones i'm using for my A levels.

My only worry is my actual A level grades, I wonder how much they look at them, or if it's mainly the entrance examination that matters.

Hope to meet everyone next year

Thank you so much for emailing me those example questions, helped a lot to have an idea of the structure and type of questions

I really can't wait to move there next year if I get in, very excited
Hello, I also have a friend who is interested in applying for medicine in Kosice. Does anybody have any friends or know people he could get in touch with and ask about it? He would like to know whether he needs to apply through Euromed, or just directly through the Safarik Josef Pavol University for medicine. Thank you all so much

Hi, I can't find the entrance requirements or even any actual information about the courses on their website (I think it's changed since I last looked at it?) Can anyone direct me to the right place please?

I'm aiming for the 4 year course if it's still there when I finish my 1st degree, if that makes any difference?

Basically to apply you just need to send the following as I don't think they specify requirements as such.:
# Confirmation of the study at the secondary school
# For post BSc study: confirmation of completing previous study and awarding degree

If you want any info that you can't find then just ask one of us.

Thank you!! I was beginning to think they'd stopped it, which would be a disaster!

Do you know if there are any particular recent work experience requirements? I did a lot a couple of years ago, but I don't really have the time to do more at the moment even though I'd love to.

I don't suppose you know what they mean by having to have passed a biology and chemistry course during my degree? Do I need to have chosen chemistry modules? !

There aren't any work experience requirements, and as long as you have a science degree they won't mind about the specific bio and chem stuff. I never did chem at uni, just bio courses and was completely fine. Also im 100% sure the course will still be there once you graduate :-) its not going anywhere.

Oh, fantastic! I'm doing a general biological sciences degree at the moment, I'm covering quite a variety of modules so I should be covered then! Would you say it's better to keep my degree general rather than specialise in, say, microbiology or biochemistry or is there no real advantage to keeping my options varied? I really hope it's there when I graduate, it looks like it's an amazing course!
