There is no alternative to doing practical activities according to the specification; are you doing the new chemistry specification with Edexcel? :s-smilie:

Yes, I am. http://www.edexcel.com/migrationdocuments/GCE%20New%20GCE/International-spec-Chemistry.pdf

As I'm not in the UK I'll be sitting an alternative to practical exam instead of doing the actual practical. I'm not entirely sure what I have to study, since there's no set specification. I assume I have to know about practical techniques, safety precautions, sources of error.. Does anybody know a website that explains these types of things?

Also, I found this on the Edexcel website: http://www.edexcel.com/migrationdocuments/GCE%20New%20GCE/GCE_Chemistry_8CH01Practical_work_Mapping_Green.pdf

Does this mean the paper will be on those practicals? :confused:

I imagine it would be. Have you seen the specimen papers? It seems pretty much the same as the core praticals.
Hi Draconis. It's the same as the past Unit 3B's from what I have seen. Maybe a good lot of the information will come from the core practicals...

And we are also having a written alternative to the Physics practical :wink:

Not looking forward to either one, don't know how to prepare.. :frown:
And to make it worse, all we have is a single sample ;_;
