My AHs were a pretty big shock - before all the exams were cancelled I was aiming for AAB but corona came along and ruined all of that. The morning I got my results I thought I missed my offer and was done for, but it turns out I'm lucky and was accepted by Dundee regardless.

Anyway kids, the moral of the story is that mocks/prelims are VERY IMPORTANT so please take them seriously (because you never know if your exams might get cancelled by a once-in-a-century pandemic).

- Good luck to all of you!

Sheffield: unconditional offer; Firmed this, best decision of my life, Sheffield is great
Keele: offer AAA, withdrawn
St Georges: interview(withdrew the application after offer from Sheffield)
Plymouth : Interview (withdrew the application after offer from Sheffield)

Guys, I'm a doctor now. This is proof that perseverance pays, I remember crying after multiple rejections and knowing that it wasn't proof that I couldn't get it, just evidence of the vastness of intelligence and abilities in students applying with me. Never give up! Get feedback so if you have to apply again you won't make the same mistakes. If you have to take a gap year, get a healthcare related job, makes a huge difference during interviews.
Goodluck and God bless you all

Wouldn’t normally post my detailed stats on TSR as it goes well against the 100% A*s rule but if it can help someone to realise that you don’t have to be ‘perfect’ to get into medicine then so be it!

Hope this is of help. For what it's worth, I put off applying for 5 years due to having limiting beliefs that 'people like me' don't go to med school. This was my 'trial' application i.e. I applied late in the cycle (started application in August 2019) and expected to need two attempts at applying.

Year of Entry: 2021
GCSEs: 10A*-As
AS Grades: AABB
A2 Prediction/Results: AAAB
Degree: Predicted First BSc
UCAT: 2850 (700 VR, 720 DM, 710 QR, 720 AR = 712.5 Average)
BMAT: N/A (was planning on sitting for UCL A100 and Oxford A101 but personally I decided it would be too much work to prepare for alongside final-year studies - other people have done this so do what you think you're capable of!)

Work Experience/Volunteering: Volunteered at a care home (1+ year carer role for the elderly), shadowed in various hospital departments (neurosurgery, trauma and vascular surgery, anaesthetics) and shadowed at GP practice. Also did online work experience (BSMS and ObserveGP) due to COVID-19 pandemic leading to the cancellation of my other planned placements.
Extra-Curricular: University societies and sports teams, various internships, tutoring (did similar stuff as a school-leaver too)

Universities applied to and decisions:

Bristol (A100) - interview - OFFER
Warwick (A101) - interview - OFFER
Barts (both A100 & A101) - interview - post-interview rejection

Years of hard work finally paid off, fingers crossed for my final year - last push and then I'll hopefully be starting medical school this September! Happy to answer any questions via PM, and best of luck to anyone reading this who's applying - stay resilient, you've got this
