Been called a coconut so many times, normally by the 'rude boy/girl' type asian. But I'll be applying for med school so I guess that makes me a little asian right?

in england, an asian is an indian, pakistani, bangladeshi etc. (but also chinese, but less)

exactly!!! my cousins all think i waste my time learning bharatanatyam! I love it so much its made me the strong person I am today but none of them understand how important it is. Its so sad to see how willingly they give up on their hindu culture to become westernised. And liek they're happy to let go of their real culture but hold onto supersitious dogma about arranged marriages and stuff...its so contradictory. Knowing your languge and appreciating your culture is nothing if you go off and marry someone who isn't Indian or whatever...makes my blood boil.

Yeah I guess so, it's funny though because my older brother is doing it as well :p:

But they're pretty cool about it and leave it up to me unlike someone I know who is being pretty much forced into medicine because of pushy parents :rolleyes:
