Dance music is good for this, but finding dance music that doesn't irritate me after 2 listens is a neverending search for me. I really enjoy these at the moment:
HeartsRevolution - Switchblade (LA Riots Remix)
Hot Chip - Ready For The Floor (LA Riots vs Villians Remix)
The Tings Tings - Great DJ (Calvin Harris Remix)
Spank Rock feat. Amanda Blank - Bump (Pink Skull remix)

The Hype Machine 'popular' section has a lot of remixes which often own.
Walk a mile in my shoes (Henrik Schwartz remix)- Coldcut ft Robert Owens

Listen out for the stringsy bit around 2.47 great for stretching I tell thee.

Sorry if this has already been done before!

I find music really, really helpful when I'm working out or playing any type of sport, both to keep me motivated, and to help keep going, but the main one for me is that music helps me get 'into the zone'! Unfortunatly I only have maybe 10 tracks that work, some better than others and they are really geting tired I've been playing them so much, so I need some new stuff!

Just wondering if people could recommend any tracks that they feel really gets them ready for competition/a really good workout etc?
I know its cheesy, but things like Lose Yourself are strangely good, not really a fan of Rap, but I find it really gets me pumped up! Guess its the whole driving bass thing lol!
So does anybody know any motivational songs, preferably with motivational lyrics, not just dance tracks etc!

Thanks so much for your help!

Flogging Molly - Drunken Lullabies
Anything by Dragonforce
Papa Roach
As an earlier reference to DJ Shadow ~ Stem/long Stem, I felt that I had to express my antipathy to Fruity Euro type dance music... the monotonous "untz untz untz untz untz untz untz untz" [3. untz] tempo to encourage increased physical activity in the gym.

I prefer music that builds mood and emotional resonance, no matter if it's nose bleed techno or drum & bass. At home I have a preloaded music video on an LCD screen, a work of art, unlike the "untz untz untz untz untz untz untz untz" referred to above.

For me, working off the booty works most effectively when there is a connection between myself and the music ~ cardio vascular work isn't just linear, we're not automatons on a production line ~ one needs to warm up gradually... Stem has an initial starting tempo [at heart rate], followed by a slow rise then steep increase of the tempo into 'XX' bpm, followed by a crescendo, and finally a slowdown to calm down the pulse ... anyway, that's my take on the whole pumping~in~the~zone thing.

Enjoy!

Thanks to Profesh for the rep

Aerosmith- Ragdoll
Britney Spears- Gimme More
Girls Aloud- Something Kinda Ooh
Def Leppard- Pour Some Sugar On Me

Always get me pumped up
hed pe - raise hell

makes me want to destroy anyone & everything
Christ running would be boring without music
I mostly use Muse, Radiohead, Arctic Chimps, Kasabian...basically songs with clear drum beats that i can pace my running to but sing a long to as well :p:
Beethoven's 9th symphony - i am serious.
Anything fast paced which involves a screaming vocalist and guitar.

I work out to dance, rave, hardcore music. Anything loud and with a beat that gets me pumped!

Pendulum (awesome!), Bullet for my Valentine, Funeral for a Friend, InMe, Biffy Clyro, Coheed and Cambria.
Edit: Kind of just copied & pasted one of my running playlists from itunes, no way would I type it all out!!

I don't doubt it. It's a very powerful, energetic piece of music.
