Welcome to Keele University
Nestled in 600 acres of countryside in the heart of the UK, our big campus and small community provide an environment that is spacious, secure and supportive. Coupled with our distinctive and flexible approach to teaching and learning, you will open your mind to challenge and build a broader based knowledge.
We successively rank at the very top of student satisfaction surveys; 1st for Student Satisfaction (2014, 2015 and 2016 National Student Survey), 1st for Student Satisfaction with Course (Guardian University League Table 2017) and 1st for employability (HESA, 2016).
This is because it’s more than green and lovely, it’s a place of research and academic excellence too. We teach in small groups, provide one-to-one access to our academics and value the quality of our teaching as highly as our research.

Courses and fees
Whether it’s Health, Humanities and Social Sciences or Natural Sciences, whatever your area of study, we deliver a unique and international learning experience. We teach in small groups, provide one-to-one access to our academics and value the quality of our teaching as highly as our research.
Keele University prides itself in offering students dual honours degrees and actively encourages each student to pick two subjects to broaden their knowledge and skillset. Courses are highly flexible and there are a good range of undergraduate and postgraduate qualifications on offer.
Around 150 students will study abroad each year at Keele, with the university partnering with many institutions overseas. The university also participates on the Erasmus scheme. International students can apply to take their whole course here or simply study for a semester or two.
We know that going to university can be a daunting as well as an exciting experience, so to help you along the way we have a number of bursaries and scholarships. Visit our website for details, including the latest fee information.
Everything’s on your doorstep at Keele, with all the most important services and facilities gathered together at the centre of campus. And because our student population is quite small, there’s a great sense of community.
You’ll soon feel at home, and you’ll make and meet friends wherever you go.
Our self-contained campus is home to our accommodation, lots of restaurants and cafés, the Students’ Union, a health centre, all the teaching (except for some health courses) and the following:
Besides our three campus shops and fantastic Students’ Union shop and post office, Keele has a small high street with a newsagent’s, a Costa Coffee, a Blackwell’s bookshop, a Well Pharmacy and a Santander bank.
Every day, different traders sell their wares inside and outside the Students’ Union – great for DVDs, CDs, books, posters, make-up, crafts and more.
Once a week there’s a farmers’ market outside the Students’ Union where you can buy fresh produce. Or take one of our student allotments and grow your own!
We have two libraries: one on campus, open 24/7 during semesters, and the other at the Royal Stoke University Hospital for our healthcare students. Both offer free Wi-Fi and a choice of study spaces.
We offer an IT support and advice centre plus a laptop loan scheme and clinic. You’ll have 24/7 access to computers, scanners and high-speed colour printers in the Library. There’s free Wi-Fi across campus, including every study bedroom, and at the Royal Stoke University Hospital. The Keele Learning Environment (KLE) provides an online portal for enhanced course content, submitting your work online, and group study facilities like chat rooms and messaging.
Keele Students’ Union (SU) is the focal point for student social life. The Union organises gigs, club nights and many more events all year round! Our SU recent made the top 10 in the Whatuni Student Choice Awards 2016.
Keele has fabulous indoor and outdoor sporting and leisure facilities, with more to do than you could shake a lacrosse stick at. From fencing to dance, football to squash, you’ll be able to exercise your body just as much as your mind. There are over 100 sports clubs and societies to choose from!
Whether you're moving away from home for the first time or joining Keele from another university, making sure you have accommodation that’s right for you will be a high priority. As a campus university, Keele has over 3,000 bedrooms on site, all within a short walk of the main facilities.
Moving away from home is part of the university experience and campus living makes it easy to make friends when you move to a new area. We offer affordable, clean and secure accommodation with staff available 24 hours a day to offer support and advice.
There are five Halls of Residence at Keele each with its own character and with different room types to suit a variety of budgets, ranging from single rooms sharing bathrooms and kitchens, to rooms with en-suite facilities. The accommodation is grouped into flats, houses and traditional student accommodation blocks.
We have single gender accommodation in our traditional accommodation blocks (rooms with or without a washbasin or shared 4 person flats). All of our premier flats and premier en-suite rooms are mixed gender since these rooms have their own bathrooms - kitchens are shared between male and female students.
Visiting Keele University is a great way of finding out whether its the right place for you. A number of different open days take place throughout the year and you can use this opportunity to meet with students, visit the facilities and learn what sort of things you'll be studying on your course.
For more information on what to expect on an open day read our guide.
