Can A-levels be spread out?

I’m doing Further Maths, so we do the Maths A-level in one year (this year) and the Further Maths one next year. I’m predicted an A* in it this year, so if an university’s grade requirements are A*AA, would the A* gained this year count towards the A* for the grade requirements. I heard that universities prefer if those three grades came from your final year of study. Is this true?

Thanks in advance
You'll need to contact individual uni's

It depends a lot of different universities. Many of them will not count a grade gained in Year 12, but it may be what makes you stand out and gets you an offer in the first place.
