Oddly enough, I was about to log on to ponder whether we 22nd-ers were being held back for reserve positions when I got my email. It was the mention of the NHS that got me thinking that. Perhaps they expected a few drop-outs from that segment due to shifts, etc. and auditioned that group in the knowledge that the vast majority would be reserves.
Always a possibility ....... and we live in hope of that being so I guess
Can I just state that the NHS, and my Trust definitely, are actively encouraging members of staff who have applied and been successful to take and play their part in the ceremonies. It is a fantastic showcase to highlight the NHS in, as Danny Boyle has said, and managers have been asked to accommodate staff leave/time off for those involved in the games where possible. NHS staff are also contributing to medical care at the games, especially physios who will be (lucky them) hands on with the athletes.
