Cambridge Offer Holders 2015 thread

English at Jesus for 2016  (applied deferred, planning on taking a gap year) any other 2016 offer holders?

Congratulations! Also, A*AB?! Either your third subject is something like Physics, or they absolutely loved you.

You too! Psychology funnily enough (which I didn't really do as well in as I would've liked to at AS). I thought my interviews had gone relatively well, but not well enough to even merit a place, nevermind that offer!

I also want to. Like, not a formal feedback letter where they spend quite a while going over it, just the scores I got in each interview. Might ask if that's possible actually. Let me know what they say to you.

Yeah, will do
Original post by TVIO
Yeah I really wanna know! I had a test, wanna know how well I did, how well compared to others. Want to know my interview scores and why. Want to know what they thought of reference/PS. I mean I'm glad I got in and all, but I'd like to know just how close I was to failing.

Lol I j wanna know so I can help others with their applications

And see how well i guessed my stuff

Good module choice  Just to pre-warn you, Maths B is really tough...

Cells turned out to be a really interesting module for me, and I ended up switching across to Bio modules this year - so it's definitely worth doing if you think you may be interested in Biology stuff.

(current 2nd year NatSci popping in to congratulate you all :wavey: )

I wouldn't email them now - they're still sorting out admissions stuff I believe/ planning the torture of Lent term for us lot...

I asked my DoS about my interviews once I got to Cambridge in October-ish, apparently they picked me because I was good at maths (lol).

I want tough :colone:

Oh awesome. I'll definitely have to take it then because biochem is beautiful.

I emailed because they wanted confirmation I'd accept so I j put that in as well.

Mine definitely wasn't my maths hahaha

I do Psych too! What do you do apart from Lit and Psych?

Clearly you misjudged how well you'd done! Girton may not be the most oversubscribed college but getting that offer anywhere is impressive.

Congratulations everyone - if there are any Downing or Geography students that want specific questions answered, fire away. If anyone has any general questions about what happens between now and exams/results day, or about A-levels, I'm happy to answer as best I can.
What is the best college for economics at Cambridge? Apparently it is Christ's but I'm not sure - would've though trinity and kings would trump christ's???

So I'm going to be given a reading list apparently. Any idea when this is? (Churchil compsci) How many books/what sort of books does it contain? (Presumably all subjects have this?)

I take English language and an EPQ as well, so I thought that my subject combination made an offer seem unlikely too! I know, I did like it there and I'm honestly in a little bit of shock!
A work in progress. I wanted to order known offers by college to make it easier to see if people are on your course at your college. Currently the colleges with the most TSR offers are Christ's, Pembroke and St John's (12), and the course with the most TSR offers is currently PhysNatSci.

So I'm going to be given a reading list apparently. Any idea when this is? (Churchil compsci) How many books/what sort of books does it contain? (Presumably all subjects have this?)

In all likelihood, yes, you will get sent a reading list - this can be anytime between now and results day, depending on your college and/or subject. Some of the lists can be intimidatingly long, and it would be absurd to even try and read everything. At my college at least, it was quickly apparent that not many people made a conscious effort to work through the list - apart from medicine. If you feel so obliged to read any of the content, go ahead, but in my experience, most of it is part of the year 1 content anyway, and so you will end up reading it at some point - whether you choose to do so before the course starts is up to you.

You can try finding the lists via your department or college websites - or by using other colleges' reading lists, where you are likely to find similar material. As a starting point to perhaps bookmark for later, this is from the CompSci department website, this is what Downing suggests for its CompScis , and the same for King's.

I would really emphasise to everyone that reading lists are not hard and fast, and I certainly wouldn't advocate spending much on time on them until your A-level exams are finished - getting those grades is the most important thing. If your A-level syllabus/personal interests happen to overlap with any suggested material, and you can find time to fit it in, then certainly go for it, but it definitely isn't something to stress about.
