Not sure how Exeter can be cheaper than Cardiff. Rent alone there is probably twice the price of Cardiff - maybe it's because there's only about 2 nightclubs in Exeter and they both shut at 1am.*

Believe me, the survey left me a little confused as well!

It doesn't seem to be mentioning rent though, but more socialising, going out and alcohol.
The stats are a bit odd. And I know for a fact that Swansea is much cheaper than Cardiff again, but that wasn't even on the list.
Edit: Just quickly scanned the stats and it does consider rent, but it seems to give equal weighting to many other facts including clothes and shoes.
Also, how come rent in London is below the national average?

Rent was a factor, but when I was trawling through the data they had collected it seemed like the survey was a bit... circumstantial?
They surveyed 2,500 students and they did income divided by expenditure = student living index. But they then said the biggest income was student loan.. so basically Portsmouth students received more student loan than say Edinburgh?
Exeter being there shocked me. Their accommodation prices were disgusting when i checked to get the same type of accommodation there as I'd be getting in my firm, I'd have to pay an extra £1000

Yes it's rather flawed. For example, Cambridge or Oxford may be relatively expensive to live in for normal residents, but college accommodation is cheap (especially with the short terms).
