No I won't be, I live at my parents in Birmingham 20-30 minutes away from Aston.
Aston is gonna blow my mind because my old uni was a small, specialist uni that only taught law and had 300 students in total and Aston has around 10,000

I'm sure it won't be too bad. 😊 How come u are now starting to study law at Aston although you've already been to another uni?

My old uni didn't have optional modules or a placement year and Aston has both.

Oh cool😀 How will u be travelling to Aston?
I'll be getting a bus from my house which takes around 20-30 minutes, what about yourself?
Reply 27
Same, the expenses for the bus will cost a lot. Do u know how much a bus pass will cost for uni students? Since at college the prices were very cheap
you're both lucky you live that close! it's about 30 minutes on the train for me and 1 hour on the bus from where I live.
Reply 29
That is true. This is why I was hoping to get a place at a local uni otherwise travelling would be difficult. I'm sure it won't be too bad you'll probably get used to it 😊
A student buspass costs £150 per term so around 3 months. This term's one is already avaliable to buy as of 23rd August and lasts til 31st December, the earlier you get them the more value you get.
Anon, certain student bank accounts have deals on free railcards, I'm unsure which banks but it could be useful to you!
Reply 31
Thank you for the help. It is Santander bank account which do free railcards for 4 years. Have u applied for a student bank account Steven if so, which one?
I haven't, I don't see the point as I don't need an overdraft. Have you?
Reply 33
Nope I haven't because I was unsure about it
CrIsMoRWcAEHKT2.jpg freshers looks really good, I won't be going clubbing though because that's not my thing.
Reply 35
Yeah it does look good. Unfortunately I won't be going as its too late at night for me and I don't think it will benefit me as much as people living in halls :frown:
Aston has many societies, I personally do debating, model UN and fencing. I hope to get involved in the law society and mooting too.

Will u be joining Aston Union Society?

having recently graduated from this institute I can offer some advice.

At the start they'll show you a bunch of books you need to buy and that you cannot buy old ones because they're 'outdated', do yourself a favour and do not buy any (lecturers get a commission for these books bought) just get the ones needed from the library when necessary. The one book you will need is contract law. And the only books you will need for exams are Statute books i.e. for criminal law (do not write in them books otherwise you cannot take them into the exam). If you want to learn the basics and are confused LAW EXPRESS books will help.

If you are doing LLB law I advise you to change it to law with management for many reasons;

- you will do 1 less law module each year and still get a full LLB degree.
- LLB pure students have more cw and all their exams will be at once, while you will have it spread because of management
(the hardest part of 'management modules' are in first year after that they are easy and mainly open book and multiple choice that you can do really well on and bring up your average grade in second and final year, but if you do pure Law you will have to choose a law module which is harder and therefore affects your average)
- hesitantly saying 'you become more employable' in certain areas (reality I don't believe it is the case), however looks good when applying for placement year and vacation schemes

ps: mind the spelling and grammar, haven't proof read it

Thanks for the information. The entry requirement for this course is a B FOR maths which I haven't achieved however through clearing I can get in. Is maths involved with this degree?
