Composite Functions

Hi,

I did composite functions in Y10 but haven't understood them since. I'm in Y11 and need to learn how to solve them for an upcoming exam.

Thanks in advance

Let f(x)=x2f(x)=x^2 and g(x)=2x+1g(x)=2x+1

Then fg(x)=f[g(x)]=f[2x+1]=(2x+1)2fg(x)=f[g(x)]=f[2x+1]=(2x+1)^2

Or gf(x)=g[f(x)]=g[x2]=2x2+1gf(x)=g[f(x)]=g[x^2]=2x^2+1

Composite functions: one function in another.
