make up work experience
It's probably best if you didn't make anything up because if you have an interview they may ask you stuff about it

You don't need extra curriculars. What universities are interested in is super-curriculars...times where you've taken a bit of time to read around your subject in your own time, watch an online lecture or a TED talk, listen to a documentary/podcast, read a blog etc etc. and people who have taken the time to look into what the university says on it's website about the course

It only takes a few evenings to do this (and if you can't be arsed then maybe you'll struggle to stick with a degree for 3+ years)

I got your point about super-curriculars. But how do one express it saying like i have a habit of watching ted talks or blogging. Or how is the best way to express these activities?
You need to talk about why the things you've watched/read etc. interested you (obviously ones that are related to your course choice)
