Gotta be the russian one - sooo communist
I love the Italian national anthem. La Marseillaise is pretty good too. Let's not forget Rossya, Rossya (I can't transliterate for s***) the Russian one. Also, obviously have to big up Mae hen wlad fy'n nhadai... the Welsh anthem.

Basically most national anthems except the English one, which sucks.
I absolutely love the Russian anthem, and the Welsh anthem. They really do lift you up.

Wheras "God Save The Queen" is a bit drab, I would prefer Abide With Me as our national anthem.
you can't be Ireland

The Chinese one.
Ireland's Call is NOT the national anthem. It is only used as a compromise (Amhrán na bhFiann is extremely nationalist).

We'll sing a song, a soldier's song,
With cheering rousing chorus,
As round our blazing fires we throng,
The starry heavens o'er us;
Impatient for the coming fight,
And as we wait the morning's light,
Here in the silence of the night,
We'll chant a soldier's song.

Chorus:
Soldiers are we
whose lives are pledged to Ireland;
Some have come
from a land beyond the wave.
Sworn to be free,
No more our ancient sire land
Shall shelter the despot or the slave.
Tonight we man the gap of danger
In Erin's cause, come woe or weal
'Mid cannons' roar and rifles peal,
We'll chant a soldier's song.

In valley green, on towering crag,
Our fathers fought before us,
And conquered 'neath the same old flag
That's proudly floating o'er us.
We're children of a fighting race,
That never yet has known disgrace,
And as we march, the foe to face,
We'll chant a soldier's song.

Chorus

Sons of the Gael! Men of the Pale!
The long watched day is breaking;
The serried ranks of Inisfail
Shall set the Tyrant quaking.
Our camp fires now are burning low;
See in the east a silv'ry glow,
Out yonder waits the Saxon foe,
So chant a soldier's song.

Loving the 'Saxon foe' bit. Strange to see it in English, I love the Irish anthem.
The Soviet Union's :ninja:

I like God Save the Queen, and it’s very easy to sing. Jerusalem is good but only applies to England and people only know the chorus to Rule Britannia.

Flower of Scotland just sounds wrong, not the lyrics but the tune.
I wish England had a national anthem ;/
Oceania from Nineteen Eighty-Four (the film version :rolleyes:). Now THAT is a good anthem.

Well?

It's safe to say the UKs sucks (and should be Land of Hope and Glory/Jerusalem, but that's another argument...)

But what is the best?

I would definately say Italy's. Especially the lyrical version. At the rugby games, the players and the fans get so pumped up it's awesome!

The American one and the French one however I don't like the British one, I think there are better songs which the UK should use as the national anthem.

England should have a 'national' anthem as well it's weird that all other UK countries have their own anthems but England must borrow the UK anthem.
British as I am British (but I dont know the words haha) and I quite like the french one.
the Welsh national anthem is amazing
and the fact that it is sung in cymraeg makes it even better,

Oh my god, the Dutch anthem has 15 stanzas :eek:

I love the Italian (Il Canto degli Italiani), French (La Marseillaise) and the American (The Star-Spangled Banner). God Save The Queen is just too slow, too dull and the chorus comes to quickly and suddenly. The Spanish anthem has no lyrics, lol. The poor Spaniards just have to remain silent while their anthem blares in their ears.

The Star-Spangled Banner
O! say can you see by the dawn's early light
What so proudly we hailed at the twilight's last gleaming.
Whose broad stripes and bright stars through the perilous fight,
O'er the ramparts we watched were so gallantly streaming.
And the rockets' red glare, the bombs bursting in air,
Gave proof through the night that our flag was still there.
O! say does that star-spangled banner yet wave
O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave?

Simply beautiful lyrics

The Soviet Union's national anthem is my favourite. I also really like Russia's, Italy's and America's. And of course, La Marseillaise.
