How to revise BTEC IT/Comp.?

I've enrolled into a vocational college in my area and am going to BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma in IT/Computing  but I really want to get into Lancaster Uni for CS and I want to get D* all the way, so how do I revise to get the top grades? Thanks

Stay on top from the very beginning. As is the case with most BTECs, the content is not the issue, but staying on top of deadlines and assignments is the real test.

Ensure your stay organised and know extactly when your assignments are due. Plan in advance and give yourself plenty of time to complete them.

Good luck!
My advice is to buy the books now and start studying.

Unit 1: Principles of Computer Science is an Exam
Unit 2: Fundamentals of Computer Systems is an Exam
Unit 3: Planning and Management of Computing Projects is an Controlled Assessment
Unit 4: Software Design and Development Project is an Controlled Assessment

Books:

https://www.amazon.co.uk/Revise-Nati...nals+computing

https://www.amazon.co.uk/National-Co...nals+computing

https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Revision Guide - Pure revision content for Units 1 to 4
Workbook - Revision and practice questions for Units 1 to 4
Student Book - Content for exam and some coursework units

Hope this helps. PLEASE NOTE: This information I have given is for BTEC Nationals Computing, not BTEC Nationals IT. Please check which you are doing before you take it on board.

EDIT*: All books are also available directly from Pearson including an eBook, you may be able to arrange this through your college for a cheaper price. The eBook is included free with the Student Book.

As mentioned, stay on top of your assignments. If you do work last minute, you will struggle a lot. Being capped to pass grade for example means you can only get maximum pass grade in that particular unit, even if what you produced was distinction standard.

Lancaster is probably the best Uni you can get into with a BTEC IT so good choice...

You don't need books, I got triple D* doing the same course. Just finish all assignments before hand. Ask your teachers to review your work. The internet has enough information for you to achieve the highest marks.
You do with the new BTECs, they scrapped the old BTEC Nationals IT and replaced it with Computing and an IT one, both with exams and controlled assessments. Yes you may of got a Triple Distinction* but your course was assignments only.
