I'm a BBC and can speak fluent cantonese but I don't actually know anyone chinese in England apart from my family. I'm going to university next year so I'm hoping too meet some new chinese people there :h:

hey everyone i've just moved back from China with my Chinese wife having lived there for over 2 years. I miss China so much but i have to apply for my PGCE! I'm just a white English guy but i can speak Chinese and 我想交朋友！

I'm a new Chinese / English sensation!

Ah, what course are you applying for? I'm applying for Cambridge's Maths, while others are Actuarial Science at City, LSE, Warwick (MMORSE) and Heriot-Watt. Yes I speak Mandarin, how do you know? I can understand Cantonese too, although not a very fluent speaker. :wink:

I guessed you spoke mandarin because you're not from Hong Kong or Guang Zhou. I wish I could say I understood mandarin too... I can understand "hello" "bye" "i'm happy" e.t.c but not very much else :tongue:

haha, i guess i will never find a Chinese person studying politics in uk. Politics is such a taboo subject for Chinese.

I can speak cantonse and Chaozhou dialect. There are three dialects in guangdong:cantonse,Chaozhou dialect,Hakka.

I think my ancestor migrated from PuNing in Guang Zhou province, and I'm Teochew people yet don't know how to speak Chaozhou dialect as my dad never spoke to me. I can speak Cantonese, Hokkien and Mandarin though. :smile:
