I can only agree.

someone neg rep'd me as I apparently called Oxford retarded which I didn't.

I said I was there for 2 days and people there seemed socially retarded (one guy was writing a computer program chess game)...

I then went on to say 'BUT I AM SURE, there are people there that are sociable. all unis are diverse.

I don't think you can say 'x uni is least sociable'

people are too quick to give a uni name without any valid reason.

Many people say imperial but i say meh
thatone
My friend at LSE says the people there are really dull.

"foreign" and "dull" are not the same thing...

I have a feeling Warwick is down there on the party scale.

Warwick's pretty decent actually; my housemates were out at least 5 times a week in the first term and at least 3/4 times a week in the second term. When we weren't out we were socialising in halls, watching films, going to the cinema and for meals, etc.

People assume that Warwick is anti-social because it's in a field. But that field has the biggest SU in Europe and it's surrounded by Coventry and Birmingham - both pretty decent places to go for clubbing and pubbing. Exam time's pretty dull but that's the same at all unis and definitely all top ones. :yep:

Many non imperial students tend to give there pennies worth about Imperial Lol even though they clearly don't know what it's like.

It's like any other university, diverse, most people like to socialise but you get some social recluses. (like any place)

Many a people her Like vodka island night @ Tiger tiger and clubs in london

I spent two days at oxford at it seemed socially retarded. I'm sure it's just the same as any other uni though, diversity.

I never understood why drinking = socializing. There are a lot, A LOT more places where people go to socialize without drinking alcohol. Or sweating like a pig. Or gaining a headache in the morning. Or actually talking to your friends instead of shouting in their ears. :eek3:

Etc etc
Unless youve been to all i think its hard to make a good judgment and even so there tens of thousands of people in these unis it depends on the actually students.

I'd say Imperial. I've never seen such a sterile place.
Unfortunately, I'd say imperial too. Having studied there for 3 years, there are a lot of awesome people but the heavy workload, bad male:female ratio, number of foreign students, lack of arts courses, crap union, general feeling of disillusionment and the near impossiblity of finding affordable accommodation anywhere near college after 1st year all detract a little bit from the social life.

But that shouldnt put people off - they have a lot of good societies, academically its a very good uni and living in London means youre always a tube ride away from some of the best clubs, live music venues, shops, art museums, theatres, whatever youre into etc in the country if not the world.

I'd say Imperial a.k.a sausage fest.

one of my mates go to imperial and the said that the social life there is great ! he said because of the location(south kensington) there are so much to do, he said that everyone knows each other and are friends not just geeks that are shy to make friends
hmm.Im not one to talk as I dont actually go there( or any uni, yet) but when I went to Cambridge it was enough to make me :eek3: . So quiet and depressing...the students showing us round were quiet too... but at least it was sort of pretty:smile:

Am I the only person who thinks that universities like this are amazing? :s-smilie:

I love it when a student's number 1 priority is their degree. They are people I like to make friends with, which is ironic in a way.

Edit: Why the frick has this post been neg repped!? Fine, I guess your degree is your 20th priority, is that because you're "cool"?

Anywhere with lots of international students really. I don't blame them but in a foreign country etc its hard not to be very cliquey.

It can be pretty hard to get to know home students as an international. :s-smilie:

Yeah, from my experience of working at the post office i couldn't agree more! Its just so much easier to get along with people of your own nationality and culture, perhaps at the expense of speaking to the majority. Unfortunately a divide can form consequently, with is good for neither party really!

There is not least sociable top uni

Every uni has its party people and geeks
Reply 58
everyone saying LSE is very wrong from my (very little) experience of LSE so far!!!
Every university has it's goons and it's party-goers.

Though to divert this thread completely, I reckon the social life at Bristol University is amazing!
