I had one last week. Basically I was asked questions such as:
Do you have the right to work in the UK?
When are you available to work?
What do you think the job of Stock Movement Assistant entails?
Why do you want to work for Debenhams?
What do you see as being good customer service?

Hope this helps.
Good Luck

They told me there and then :/. Good luck :]

I had one just a minute ago. It was for a position as a Sales Advisor

They ask simple questions which are on the application form to begin with:
Are you entitled to work in the UK?
Do you consider yourself to have any disabilities?
Do you have any previous employment?

They also mention things about what day, the pay etc.

Then they ask more detailed questions:
What do you think this role involves?
Do you think you have any relevant experience for the role?
Why do you think customer service is important?
If there was a customer how would you approach them?

Then afterwards they said about the next stage which is an in store stage. Has anyone done it/know what it involves?

Ive got a phone interview in half an hour, by any chance is yours for Debenhams in Leeds White Rose?
Thanks for the questions by the way its a great help, I'm just sat here worried what to say!
Did they let you know straight away whether you've got to the next stage?
I did a telephone interview for the new store opening in Bath, it's really not that scary! They put you on hold for a few minutes when the interview's ended and then tell you there and then if you've passed or they'll say they'll contact you within 21 days which pretty much means you've failed. After that, you'll be invited to an assessment centre, which if it's anything like mine was, is really relaxed and informal. I passed it all and started work a few weeks back; I love it!

What did you do for the in store assessment? and was that that?
I've heard some people go back for another one after.
Also what role was yours for?

i have my store assessment in plymouth tomorrow too.
hopefully it will be okay

I'll see you there. How strange  and I hope so, I'm worried D:
Mine was in the Job Centre as I actually now work in a brand new store that's only just been built.

If it's like mine, you watch a DVD, then participate in a few group activities and finally go off for a one to one interview.. to be honest, it's more fun that scary or nerve wracking!

I think perhaps in stores that are already open, you also have to choose an item to fit the 'customer's' needs.

Good luck with it all

Hi,
Its kind of irrelevant to reply on this post but thought I should just post my telephone interview I had with debenhams 2 hours ago.

I applied for the role of part time store supervisor at lakeside debenhams.

The person who called me told me after interview that it is two part interview in the first part she will discuss about general questions and the second part would be more related to the role I applied.

So the question for the first part were:
1. Name
2. NI Number
3. Eligibility to work in UK
4. Over 18 or Under
5. Transportation [will use public transport or your own]
6. Any holidays planned
7. If had to work extra would you work
8. Are you flexible if transferred to different store within the location

These are all I could remember there were one or two other questions but they were same as above and easy bit of the interview

Now for the second part:

1. Have you had experience of managing a team, how many
2. Give an example where you have to plan and achieve goals
3. How did you manage to work with an under-performing team member
4. How would your last line manager describe you
5. Example where you had to train other people
6. How often do you have to manage refunds in your previous role
7. What is customer service
8. Example where you have to integrate with your team members
9. Why you left your last job
10. How would you maximize sales of the store.

I think thats all, I hope this could help anyone who have interview lined up, all the best :-) !!

They let me know at the end of the telephone interview. The interviewer asked if she could put me on hold, and came back a couple of minutes later saying I was successful and invited me to the store assessment/interview.
