Within the History course are the language requirements (ie. complusory elements of the course and GCSE requirements) needed whatever strand of the course you take? This is for single honours, not with 'Culture' or 'Politics'.

Yeap. However, there is a possibility that the GCSE requirement might be relaxed. This is just anecdotal, but my course is a subdivision of History (and so also has a compulsory language element), and one of my friends on the course doesn't have a language. On the other hand, she was given a harder offer than everyone else I've met; I don't know if those two facts are related.

I don't imagine that it's very uncommon for them to waive the GCSE requirement, because History students don't actually have to study the same language did for GCSE: they can start another one from scratch.

P.S. Accelerated Spanish is hell on earth.

how is the language taught? I mean, is it mainly written translations into English, from English? Is it mainly speaking and conversation etc.?
