Modern Anglo-Saxon-based/Germanic culture is for wimps...

If you look at difference policies and attitudes throughout the world, the Germanic world is by far the wimpiest, most easily railroaded and most accepting.

If you look at different socialist policies like easy immigration policy, social benefits, welfare, sentences for criminals, etc, you'll find the easiest going is the predominantly Germanic culture countries, in particularly countries like the UK, Sweden, Denmark, Germany, the Netherlands, Australia, etc.

However, if you take other cultures in Europe, like the Slavs or the Romance peoples, their outlook and attitude is far tougher, far more self-serving and far less soft and liberal. These types of countries generally don't believe in things like social welfare and easy immigration policies.

That's not to say these countries don't have some form of social welfare, but on the whole they're far less generous the the Germanic countries, and people simply don't care. People on benefits in those types of country are ragarded as people nothing cares about.

Also, many other cultures don't give a **** about anyone outside their immediate family, and a select few good friends. Everyone else is expendable and is there simply to be manipulated for the individuals own personal gain. Maye it's slightly "racist", although I don't think it is, but I've seen this behaviour in many non-Germanic countries, other people are simply expendable.

In many countries, children are tought they are the only ones that are important, while in Germanic countries, we are tought everyone is equally important.

Another example of this is in many countries people simply do not que up, you simply have to assert yourself and push people out the way with your elbows to get served and get what you want. No one cares about you, no one is going to make sure you are served in a fair, oderly fashion because the only person who cares about you is you and you have to assert yourself.

Yes, some big generalisations here, maybe some quite loaded assumptions, but aside from that I think what I've written is resonably true, Germanic culture is far softer than that of many other countries and groups of people.

If you added America and Canada to that list, those would be the countries I'd most like to live in. "Softer" = better.

I wasn't saying they weren't neccessarily better or worse places to live, but they are undoubtedly softer.
We are just greater liberal thinkers if that is the case nothing to do with being soft but understand basic human compassion, we just get taken for a ride in doing so.
So what if they're "softer"? Just shows that we care about people more than other cultures.

I like the UK, and most of my future emigration destinations are places that share Anglo-Saxon/Germanic/Scandinavian liberal values - The Netherlands, New Zealand, Sweden and Canada.
ffs whats wrong with liberalism?

I really hate how its seems to be tossed around like an insult

Restricting immigration is anti capitalist in the same way that introducing trade tariffs is. Free immigration, like free trade, is a fundamentally capitalist policy, not a socialist one.

I would say your general observations are a bit obvious, but personally, I like our 'softer' culture. I know you're not saying directly that our culture is bad but my guess is you wish we were 'harsher'.

I would say this is more true for western europe than most other countries; the emphasis here is on the individual whereas a large number of other cultures are based around the collective; people feel obligations towards their wider community that people don't here, even if they don't have a formal welfare system

We'll be back to put the savages back in their place soon enough, don't you worry.
Historically North European nations were notoriously ruthless in their pursuit of free market capitalism, particular the Dutch and the British. So the luxury of todays society is largely as a result of that.

But there is a social hierarchy here it is just that it operates on a much more subtle level.

When you're on top of the layer cake, you can take liberties.

What you perceive as "soft" is rather a luxury afforded by excessive strength. Germanic Europe (I don't know why you've omitted the French - perhaps historical ignorance) is the strongest place in the world. When times get harder, I would expect values to change. But for now, we're 'decadent' simply because we can be.

There are quite a couple of people that would argue that the mentioned countries are the "most advanced" ones.

Whether this is true or not, it's certainly true that family bondings are lower in these countries than the less "soft" ones, that indicators of major social problems (e.g. teen pregnancies, binge drinking) are greater and that people are just more selfish. Thanks capitalism/liberalism.

Prehaps off topic, but I wouldn't call the French on the whole a Germanic nation. They've been culturally influenced by Germanic Europe but at the end of the day their culture is deeply rooted in Romance European culture, their language is a Romance language and on the whole their attitudes and behaviour are far closer to Italians and Spanish than they are to British and Germans.
human beings in general only care for their immediate family/friends, this is inherent to the human condition, and thus not limited to non-Germanic cultures.

I'd say the West is more open, and IMO it's a good thing. Who is to say people shouldn't all hold equal rights in society? On what basis does (or should) x group have more rights in a society than y group?
