It can depend on many things, such as the course/career you want to do, whether you can afford to go to uni etc. I left a full time job to go to uni as a mature student. I did an access course, now I am in the middle of a four-year degree, so that is five years of not earning a full-time wage. That is difficult for me as my partner doesn't earn much and we have a three-year old boy who attends nursery. So that is quite a lot of money I am missing out on (was only on £18K but still alot x5 years). But I am training to be a dietitian and is something I think will give me a good career and job satisfaction. The NHS pays for my course which helps alot, so no tuition fees for me.

So have a good think about what you would like to do, really research it, do some work experience if you can to get a really good idea of the job. It is tough and hard work but worth it in my opinion. If you do go to uni you will probably love it anyway. But make sure you don't waste the opportunity.

Good luck x
