* Make sure you draw diagrams properly so that the examiner can understand
* DIRECTIONS are important in some questions, make sure you state which direction you are using to the examiner and get your signs right!
* Answer the question that you are being asked and not the one you are NOT or going to be asked!
* Unless otherwise stated, do not do accurate answers, actually work out the g value, or the square root and put to 3 sig fig unless otherwise stated

Good luck on your exams and oh maybe I should use these tips since I too am doing the exam tomorrow

I have already failed :facepalm2:

THANKS .

Do you reckon the paper is gonna easier or harder than the Jan 2010 one.

Jan 2010 was fairly easier..

I didn't do Jan paper, so lets hope this one is moderate ^_^

Answers in terms of g are fine, unless the questions says otherwise, such as saying give it to nearest m

The exam won't be ridiculously hard like Jan 09.

I am not sure

in Jan 09, grade boundary for A is 49/75 (raw mark)
in Jun 09 it was 55/75
in Jan 10 it's 61/75

do you think this time it will be 67? (because 49 + 6 = 55, 55 + 6 = 61) :p:
when I saw it, I just laugh after realising this

Tbh, I guess this year it will be harder (it just can't get easier and easier all the time) and the grade boundary will be lower

Good luck with your exams!!!
2010 jan wasn't that easy.
just need to remeber to use cos and sin in the right direction and remeber stuff like 3,4,5 triangles helps loads with doing forces diagrams on slopes

Yeah you might be right!

Hopefully, it will be in the around 55 to 60 marks for an A.

With no big Vectors questions coming up! I do hate vectors!

Same here, one of my weakest subjects in M1. I will be glad if they don't take up too much marks out. But I guess the first couple of parts of the vectors will be easy.

I sure do hope its somewhere in mid-low fifties for an A!
ermmmm.....can someone help me in moments, i dont really understand how your suppose to know if the particle is rotating clockwise or anticlockwise????
really confusing me :/

After taking moments about a point:

Right hand side:
Force acting upwards will move clockwise
Force acting downwards will move counter clockwise

Left hand side:
Force acting upwards will move counter clockwise
Force acting downwards will move clockwise

It works just like a clock, hope this helps ^_^

Doing M1 & C1 at same time 2moz :s-smilie: Hope C1 is first.
Erm tips:
1. write down suvat equations as soon as exam starts so that you don't waste time thinking about them later
2. DIRECTION is important (velocity, displacement, impulse, etc)
3. When finding the shortest distance between 2 position vectors at time t or whatever, it's quicker & easier (i think) to differentiate (using chain rule or implicitly) than to multiply out & complete square
4. Draw clear diagrams
5. Remember units
6. relax (but not too much!)

Why do I have a horrible feeling that it's going to be the hardest M1 paper so far? :s-smilie:
Muffin.

its because your doing it, that is the reason why your thinking it will be hard, but dont worry you be alright (if youve revised)

Why do I not have a clue what you're talking about?
