    Bath and Bath Spa relationship
I was just wondering what the relationship between the two Unis is like socially, I imagine everyone's main friendship groups will be amongst their fellow students but on nights out etc do people mingle well? Is there any sort of superiority complex from either uni? Or is everything cool?

I have met remarkably few spa'ers out in town over the last 4 years. Oh and we do look down on them. HOWEVER... as they have a high female:male ratio it is good to get to know some spa'ers just for that.

I imagined the 'Bath Bois' to be stuck up, but surely, if they are all 'soooo clever (yah yahh, chunder everywhaarrr)' then they'll realise Bath and Bath Spa do very different subjects and that being more creative does not determine intelligence. (If you hand't guessed I'm a Bath Spa prospective!)

Some Bath Uni students do have superiority complexes about the Spa students (particularly one of my housemates, but he's obnoxious to everyone so maybe that doesn't count). There's always banter but in my experience it's always friendly - I've got on great with the Spa students I've met while out & about.
It's true that they don't seem to mingle as much as you might expect. It's also true about Spa's F:M ratio beuing much better!

I go to bath spa and feel like the bath boys look down on us, but then again, I could have had the grades to go to Bath Uni, if they did either of the courses i do...they are two very different unis!

Erm, they don't really mix - all the clubs do separate nights for each uni. This Thursday night at a club is really popular here, and a girl I met from Spa hadn't even heard of it. And if you look at the Bath Memes page, half of them are just taking the piss out of Bath Spa. The relationship is one of...beef.

There's always going to be a lot of banter between them but I've never seen any actual nastiness between people of each uni.

Yeah it does, Bath is mainly sciences/technology and sport so it fits the stereotypical guys are better at science and sport than girls are (which is totally not true obviously )

Their subjects don't really overlap - don't know if that makes a difference. My Dad teaches at Bath Spa, and it has a much nicer campus, but is certainly looked down on as a new 'university college'. It's very friendly though. Which one are you going to / applying for?

I'm at Bath uni, my brother is at Spa. Hilarity ensues.

But really, it's all fun and we each have our own pros/cons, and like others have said, we're very different universities. Only a few people take it too far and end up bickering like children.

Just to counter the earlier post...

Bath Spa is pretty much looked down on my Bath Uni as it's a college which teaches media studies etc... But the two places teach completely different subjects - Bath is Science/Sport, Spa is Creative stuff. There's lots of banter, but no actual nastiness that I knew of. I only ever met one Bath Spa person in 6 years living in Bath and that's because he joined the Bath Uni waterpolo team as Bath Spa didn't have one. They don't socialise together at all.

Bath spa is a UNIVERSITY please get your facts straight

also it isnt just creative 'stuff' i study psychology there with one of the best psychology departments in the country they do loads of ACADEMIC subjects including biology and history

Spartans tend to be pretty alright about bath students ... its the bath lot that have a problem with the spartans but i think thats mainly to do with the fact they are quite competitive being sporty

its pretty hilarious watchin a bath uni persons face when you say your a spartan ... utter disgust lol

This is the first time I have heard Spartan being coined for a Spa student -- love it. Here's at least one Bath University student not responding with utter disgust.
